Achilies Tendonitis

According to the new developments Achilles tendonitis is not a simple inflammatory condition of the tendon, its regarded as a degenerative condition with loss of normal muscle fibre, this condition can be acute mainly due to some inflammation or an external trauma, or it can be chronic due to continuous strain and tension at the insertion of tendon.

Normally any inflammatory pathology will subside with a continuous blood flow and in this condition the tendon is having very low circulatory rate and the healing gets gradual.

In acute tendonitis the person will have

  • Tenderness on pressing
  • Pain starts during movement and goes on decreasing during activity
  • Pain reduce on rest

In chronic tendonitis

  • Swelling and thickening
  • Redness
  • Gradual onset with weeks to months
  • Pain on pressing
  • Pain on tendon while climbing stairs
  • Morning stiffness

Ayurveda

According to ayurveda this is a pitta kapha vitiation which will result in vata kopa and results in difficulty in movements, depending upon the condition pitta and kapha predominance vary, in acute cases mainly pitta get vitiated and results in kapha and vata vitiation, this condition can easily be treated with special external treatments and internal medicines. In chronic conditions due to kapha involvement it can take some time. In both cases the main line of treatment includes increasing circulation and reducing degeneration along with rejuvenation of destroyed muscle fibbers.

Ayurveda clearly indicates treatment modalities for this condition without surgery or corticosteroid injections, Ayurveda treat the root cause of this condition; special internal medicines along with local external sudative treatment modalities assure maximum long standing results without any complications.

Depending upon the time, duration and intensity treatment days vary.
